MILLERSBURG, Ohio — For 65 years, one thing has remained constant at Mullwoods, formerly Mullet Cabinet and Fryburg Door: a commitment to building quality products, treating people with integrity, and investing in the community that helped shape the company.

What began as one man’s dream in 1961 has grown into one of Ohio’s premier custom cabinetry and woodworking manufacturers. Today, Mullwoods serves homeowners, builders, contractors, architects, cabinet and furniture manufacturers, and commercial partners across the country while remaining firmly rooted in Millersburg, Ohio.

The business began in 1961 as a one-man cabinet shop under different ownership. Jake Mullet joined in 1965, and Dean Mullet followed the next year. In 1975, Jake and Dean purchased the company and renamed it Mullet Cabinet. A couple of years later, Dennis Mullet (Jake’s son and Dean’s brother) joined the partnership. Over the decades, that vision has been carried forward by multiple generations of the Mullet family, overcoming challenges, embracing new technology, and continually expanding the company’s capabilities. Today, the business is stewarded by brothers and partners Vince and Nick Mullet.

"The success of Mullwoods has never been about cabinets alone," said Co-Owner Vince Mullet. "It's about the people – our grandfather, dad, and uncle who laid the foundation, our great employees, customers, vendors, and community who have supplied great support. We wouldn't be celebrating 65 years without all of them."

Throughout its history, the company has experienced remarkable milestones. From rebuilding after a devastating fire in the 1970s to expanding into cabinet and furniture components in the 80s, and commercial casework in the 90s, Mullwoods has continually evolved while staying true to the values it was founded upon.

In 2024, the company unified its cabinetry and components divisions under one roof and one name, Mullwoods, creating a stronger brand while honoring the legacy built over six decades.

Today, Mullwoods combines generations of woodworking expertise with advanced manufacturing technology to deliver residential cabinetry, commercial casework, and cabinet and furniture components for projects of every size. The company serves customers throughout Ohio and across the eastern United States, partnering with homeowners, builders, remodelers, contractors, manufacturers, and institutions that value quality craftsmanship and dependable service.

While much has changed over 65 years, Mullwoods’ purpose has remained remarkably consistent: to be uncommon in everything they do. At the heart of that purpose is a commitment to steward the business through biblical principles, honoring God, serving others, and pursuing excellence in all they do.

"We're incredibly proud of where we've come from and all those who’ve helped write our story," said Co-Owner Nick Mullet. "But we're even more excited about where we're going. Every investment we've made has been focused on serving our customers better while creating opportunities for future generations."

That investment extends beyond machinery and facilities. Mullwoods has long believed that its greatest strength is its people. Many employees have spent decades with the company, contributing to a culture built on teamwork, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.Today, another generation is also becoming part of the Mullwoods story, with Vince Mullet’s three sons and other Mullet family members who join the team during the summer spending time in the building and getting to know the business. It’s a simple but meaningful reminder of the family legacy that continues to shape Mullwoods.

Reaching a 65-year milestone is an accomplishment few manufacturing companies achieve. For Mullwoods, however, the anniversary is less about looking back than it is about looking ahead.

With a growing product line, modern manufacturing capabilities, and a continued focus on customer experience, the company is positioned to serve the next generation of homeowners, builders, manufacturers, and commercial partners while preserving the values that have defined Mullwoods since 1961.

As the company celebrates this milestone, its leadership extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of the journey.

"To every employee who has dedicated their talents, every customer who trusted us with their project, every supplier who has partnered with us, and every member of our community who has supported our business—thank you," said Vince Mullet.

Sixty-five years after one craftsman set out to build something meaningful, Mullwoods continues to prove that quality workmanship, strong relationships, and family values never go out of style.
