Survey of Wood Industry Stakeholders about Current Wood Use Pattern

Published on July 21, 2026

Dear member of the wood product manufacturing community,

We are requesting your kind cooperation in completing this brief survey (5 questions only) about wood products consumption patterns among major end-use categories. Researchers at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, with funding support from US Forest Service Forest Product Laboratory, are conducting this survey.

The U.S. Forest Service historically compiled wood products consumption data for major end-use segments. These datasets served as crucial resources for various stakeholders in the wood product manufacturing and use industry. However, these datasets have not been updated for a while and may not reflect the significant structural shifts that have occurred in the wood products markets since then. It is important to conduct this survey to collect information that is not readily available. The insights garnered from these surveys, and complemented by the data extracted from other sources, will provide essential information necessary to understand current wood consumption patterns in the industry and develop both national and regional/state-level ratios of end use of forest products in various categories.

Completion of this survey takes about 5 minutes only. Survey response cannot be linked back to individual respondent or business because we do not ask for individually identifiable information. Only aggregated results (not individual response) will be used in the report. We would appreciate your response before August 31, 2026.
