RESTON, Va. — The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) has elected Angela Bouma as its next president. Bouma, a senior manager of compliance and risk at Crystal Cabinet Works in Princeton, Minnesota, will serve a one-year term, beginning on June 1, 2026.
Marking a significant milestone in the association’s history, Bouma is the first woman to lead as president of the KCMA board. Her election to the presidency follows nearly a decade of leadership on the board of directors, where she has volunteered continuously since 2018, most recently as treasurer.
An employee of Crystal Cabinet Works for 31 years, Bouma is a longtime advocate for the cabinet manufacturing industry.
“I’ve literally grown up inside the KCMA, so it’s almost by osmosis that my vision and theirs align very closely,” Bouma said. “I started doing KCMA committee work more than 20 years ago, beginning on the Government and Regulatory Affairs committee. The work at the KCMA committee level is really where a lot of the heavy lifting happens in terms of supporting our industry.”
Environmental Stewardship Advocate
As an environmental professional, Bouma was a key architect of the Environmental Stewardship Program (ESP), serving as the outgoing chair of that committee. The ESP is a comprehensive certification from KCMA that addresses critical pillars of modern cabinet manufacturing, including:
- Environmental and sustainability criteria
- Product lifecycle and reduction of waste
- Community involvement and social responsibility
Since the program’s inception, Bouma has helped improve and update the criteria to ensure that it remains relevant to the cabinet manufacturing industry, its sustainability story, and changing consumer preferences.
“Millennials are driving most purchases these days, and it’s relatively well-known that sustainability is a big driver for their purchasing decisions,” Bouma said. “I really encourage members and non-members to take a fresh look at our ESP and learn how they can become certified in this important environmental program.”
Bouma is focused on strengthening the association’s influence by growing membership and increasing member active participation.
“I want to support KCMA as we continue our hard work to protect and advocate for our industry and our membership,” Bouma said. “I would also personally love to see more members getting involved with critical committee work.”
Bouma graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, then joined Crystal Cabinet Works as an environmental engineer.
Crystal Cabinet Works was founded in 1947 by Tom Hammer. The family-owned custom cabinet manufacturing company employs nearly 550 people at its 350,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Princeton.
